Level I Inspection

Basic visual inspection of chimney. 

Should be performed annually.

Level II Inspection

More thorough inspection using video scanning.  Performed if a problem is suspected, before a new type of appliance is installed and upon sale or purchase of home.

Flue Cleaning

Brush cleaning of flue.  Need is determined during inspection by the amount of build up on the flue wall.  Generally after every cord of wood, ton of pellets, or every other year for gas or oil furnace flues.  But since this varies from flue to flue an annual inspection of all flues is recommended by the NFPA and the CPSC.

3rd º Creosote Removal

If a creosote glaze has formed  on the wall of a wood burning appliance flue rotating chains are used to break up the glaze.

Chimney Caps

A stainless steel cover and mesh walls keep animals and rain  water out of your chimney. 

Top Dampers

If your fireplace has a throat damper that isn’t working or you want a more efficient option ask about a top damper.

Pointing

When the mortar between the bricks becomes dry and starts to crumble out it can be replaced by new mortar.

Crown Repair

The crown of the chimney can sometimes become cracked and allow water to flow into the chimney.  We can cover the crown with a rubbery substance that looks just like cement.  If the cracks are extensive a new crown can be formed.

Waterproofing

A breathable waterproofing substance is sprayed on the exterior of the chimney to stop water damage

Nest Removal

Birds, squirrels, raccoons, and other animals sometimes will nest in chimneys.  The animal can be coaxed out, the nest removed, and a cap placed to prevent the animal from returning.

Liner

If a flue has no chimney liner or a terra cotta liner has become cracked or broken, or if it is missing tiles or mortar joints carbon monoxide can enter the home.  In this case a stainless steel chimney liner is recommended.
